Hello I'm Katie

I was a mum first.
Then I saw school from
the other side of the gate.

When my children started school, I wanted to stay involved in their development. Not to recreate the classroom at home, but to understand what they were learning, recognise their strengths and find meaningful ways to help them grow.

But I quickly discovered that wanting to help and knowing how to help were two very different things.

There were school reports, assessments, teacher updates and homework. Plenty of information, but not always much clarity about what it all meant or what to actually do with it.

I wanted to connect what my children were learning at school with the world beyond it. To nurture their interests, challenge their thinking and make learning feel like something more exciting than another worksheet.

The idea at the heart of it all

“Parents don’t need to do more.
They need to understand what matters,
and know how to do what counts.

And then I stepped
inside the classroom.

As I trained to become a teacher, I discovered an extraordinary world of educational knowledge, research, strategies and resources. Ways to identify where a child is in their learning. Ways to recognise what's holding them back. Ways to teach a concept, build fluency, extend their thinking and make learning meaningful.

And I couldn't stop thinking about the parents.

Because teachers aren't the only people invested in a child's education. Parents are too. Yet so much of the knowledge that could help them is tucked away inside the profession.

What if we could bring some of that knowledge home?

Not to turn parents into teachers. Not to add another responsibility to already full lives. But to give them the understanding, practical tools and confidence to support their children in ways that actually matter.

And not just academically.

Because I believe the most valuable learning doesn't end with a test result. It shows up in how children think, solve problems, handle challenges, understand themselves, connect with others and navigate the world.

That's why I created Whole Child Teacher.

To make educational knowledge more accessible, learning more meaningful and the school years a little less complicated for the people raising the children at the centre of it all.

Less confusion. More connection. Greater confidence.

The school years, made simpler.
